Project ‘PRAYOGA’

Mathematics makes our life orderly and prevents chaos. Certain qualities nurtured by mathematics are power of reasoning, creativity, abstract or spatial thinking, critical thinking, problem-solving ability and even effective communication skills

‘Prayoga ‘ with its well defined objectives will make rapid strides, especially to kindle interest in empirical science and showcase the impact of maths among students. In pursuit of this objective, it is intended to create about 100 labs in schools across the states and impart training to teachers by the experts for effective implementation of the projects .

Teachers training

Teacher learning or training is a continuous ongoing process which promotes teacher’s teaching skills, master novel knowledge; develop better or newer proficiency, which in return assists in improving student’s learning.

Researchers and educationists have amply demonstrated that when teachers have mastered their subject and follow novel methods in teaching science, students have better absorption capacity which is expressed in their performance in the tests and examinations. Our Trust would like to give more thrust to this aspect and encourage teachers to keep abreast with latest developments in the field of science and technology including method of teaching.

With above objective in mind we propose to conduct teachers training in the field of mathematics and science.

Research Papers by Children

This program is intended for children in the age brackets of 10 to 22 years. The prime objective is to publish the research paper in websites. Minimum of 50 such papers to be published over a span of one year and by the end of  the year it will be brought out in the form of book. Selected 10 entries will be given a platform to present their ideas

Visual Science

The human brain is wired for visual communication. Roughly 80% of all the information we receive is processed by the visual pathway of our brains. The need of science videos for effective learning and understanding of STEM topics in local language has been grossly neglected.

In pursuance of this, we at Dr. T R Anantharamu Trust intend to create science videos weekly on vast topic which would cater to both primary and high school students.

Ugadi Lectures

It is well known to all that Michael Faraday started Christmas lectures in England. On the same lines we propose to start with “Ugadi lectures” on the first Sunday of April every year. It would comprise of 2/3 lectures in the field of science covering wide gamut of pure and applied fields, which should interest laymen and the general public alike.

Science Model Exhibition

The idea is to divide Karnataka into four divisions. Kids from each division shall be conducting science model exhibitions. Inviting students from different schools for the purpose of educating and thereby creating interest in the field of science is the motive behind this project

Yearly theme

Current topics like mitigating global warming, containing communicable diseases, hygiene at rural places, solid waste management in cities, finding out new, renewable energy resources, managing surface and ground water resources, could be picked up as themes for the year. Lectures, debate, workshops, essay writing, publishing books are some of the programmes planned by the Trust. This, we are sure will augment promotion of science both in public platforms and at school levels.

Awards & Recognition

Dr. T.R. Anantharamu Science Award

It is the renowned scientists and science writer Issac Asimov, who firmly believed that `The Nations may be divided in everything else, but they all share a single body of science’. It is apparent that science teachers and communicators will bridge the gap between the scientific discoveries/inventions and the public understanding of science..

Dr. T.R.Anantharamu Trust will lay emphasis on these unsung heroes who sincerely but effectively propagate the wisdom of science among students and the public. In its endeavour, the Trust will have its own survey to identify dedicated three persons (including a woman) and honour them publicly each year with cash and prize. This, Trust believes will motivate others to build a strong society nurturing scientific temper. It is also included as one of the articles in the constitution of India.
